Eileen Fisher founded her namesake brand in 1984 for a very personal reason; she was having trouble getting dressed. At the time, she was working as a graphic designer and interior decorator, with many clients in Japan, and needed to look the part for her meetings. She wanted the process of dressing to be as straightforward as throwing on a uniform. After much thought, she developed a collection that showcased beautiful colors and great fabrics with simple shapes and proportions.
