ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Kenneth Jay Lane's jewelry has graced starlets and heads of state for more than five decades. Lane graduated from RISD in 1954 and began designing shoes: he worked in the shoe design department at Christian Dior when he started making jewelry on the side. Then, a buyer at Saks Fifth Avenue learned of Lane's side project, and offered to put his jewelry in the store. His flashy debut collection sold out in one day, and Lane never looked back (Jackie O's signature triple strand of pearls were, in fact, a Lane original). Today his baubles are as fabulous as ever, and each piece delivers the wow factor with a healthy dose of creativity. Lane has always said that “elegance, good taste, and luxury never go out of style.”
