Eileen Fisher founded her namesake brand in 1984 for a very personal reason; she was having trouble getting dressed. At the time, she was working as a graphic designer and interior decorator, with many clients in Japan, and needed to look the part for her meetings. This meant a simple, chic ensemble—something that would endow confidence but was also comfortable, functional and required less effort than was normally expected for a woman to invest in her appearance. She wanted the process of dressing to be as straightforward as throwing on a uniform. After much thought, she developed a collection that showcased beautiful colors and great fabrics with simple shapes and proportions. The company believes that clothing should be ethical, timeless and well-made. Eileen Fisher fans love that they don't have to put too much thought into wearing her designs, which offer a sense of comfort and confidence each and every time.
